This tutorial was written using PSP10, but can be done in previous versions.

~ You will need ~

Paint Shop Pro 10 and Animation Shop, a 30 day trial of Paint Shop Pro can be downloaded here

** Optional ** Alien Skin Eye Candy 5:Textures/Texture Noise. A 30 day fully funtional demo here.
I have included a template in the zip with the rain effect applied if you do not have the filter or don't
want to download the demo.

I used a Rion Vernon tube from PSP Groups here or you can use your own tube.

The zip with the supplies here.

Open "spiderandweb_gh.psp" and "gh_spookynight_bunnysatticdotcom.jpg" in PSP.
If you're using my template, "spookynighttemplate_gh.psp" have that open in PSP, too.
If you want to use my spider web preset shape instead of the tube extract that to
My Documents/My PSP Files/Preset Shapes. It's named "web_gh.PspShape" in the zip.
Open the font "Zombified" and minimize it to your desktop.

I have posted Diana's adorable results form the tutorial here.
"Flying Bats" script courtesy of Kurt Grigg and can be found at Dynamic Drive.

You can drag the spider as you go to keep track of your place in the tutorial.
Drag script from Dynamic Drive

Let's get started ...

If you are using my template go to step 5.

1.

Open a new image 600 x 600, background color white. Layers/New Raster Layer and flood fill with black.

2.

Layers/New Mask Layer/From Image. Find "gh_spookynight_bunnysatticdotcom.jpg" and use the settings below ..

In your layer palette right click on Group-Raster 1 and go to Merge/Merge Group.
Image/Resize 80% with "resize all layers" unchecked.

3.

Click on your Selection tool and go to the tool options palette and click on Custom Selection.

Use these settings ..
Top 100
Left 100
Right 500
Bottom 500

Here's what you should have so far ..

Go to Layers/Duplicate. Repeat this step again so you have three masked layers.
Right click on each masked layer and rename them 1, 2 and 3.
Turn off layers 2 and 3 and make sure you are on layer 1.

4.

Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Eye Candy 5:Textures/Texture Noise.
On the "Settings" tab choose "Heavy Rain". On the "Basic" tab change only the "Rotate Texture" to 331.

Turn off layer "1" and click on layer "2" and turn it back on.
Effects/Plugins/Alien Skin Eye Candy 5:Textures/Texture Noise.
You should be on the "Basic" tab, click on the "Random Seed" button once. Click OK.

Turn off layer "2" and click on layer "3" and turn it back on.

Click on the "Random Seed" button once. Click OK.
Selections/Select None.

5.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and place it near the bottom of the masked area.
I added a red glow to my tube by going to Effects/3D Effects/ Drop Shadow
Vertical 0
Horizontal 0
Opacity 100
Blur 5
Color ~ I used #9c2624. You'll have to decide what's best for your tube.
Repeat the step three times.

Effects/3D Effects/ Drop Shadow
Vertical 0
Horizontal -5
Opacity 70
Blur 12
Color Black

6.

Click on your Text tool and use these settings ...

In your layer palette make your foreground color #c0c0c0 and your background color #000000.
Click on your image and type your name. There are some fun special characters in this font like the skull
I used after my name. To use the small skull hold down your Alt key and type in 0035. For a bigger skull
hold down your Alt key and type 0064. A few of the capitol letters have skulls under them, too. Hope you
got one with your name. lol!
Add a drop shadow to your name with these settings ...
Vertical 0
Horizontal -5
Opacity 100
Blur 8
Color Black

7.

In your layer palette click on layer 3.
You can use the Preset Shape that was in the zip for this step or you can use the tube supplied.

For the tube
..
Open "spiderandweb_gh.psp".
I left the spider on it's own layer so you can put him where you like.
Edit/Copy the web then go back to your image. Edit/Paste as New Layer.
Using your Mover tool move the web to the top left corner of the black background.
Repeat the same steps for the spider.

For the Preset Shape
...
Click on the Preset Shape tool and find "web_gh". Click on "Retain Style", "Create as a Vector" and "Antialias".
Draw out your shape from the top left corner to about the middle of the image.

If you'd like to change the color of the web go to the layer palette and click on the plus sign for Vector 1. Right click on web_gh and choose "Properties". In this window you can change the color and stroke width if you like. When you're happy with your web right click on the Vector 1 layer and convert to raster.
Add a drop shadow ..
Vertical and Horizontal 2
Opacity 100
Blur 8
Color Black.
Copy and paste the spider from the tube I supplied and apply the same drop shadow as the web.

Add any copyright info and your watermark now.

8.

Let's animate it now.
Open Animation Shop.

In PSP make sure layer 1 is on and layers 2 and 3 are off.
Edit/Copy Merged. Go to Animation Shop and right click and Paste as New Animation.

Go back to PSP and turn off layer 1 and turn on layer 2. Edit/Copy Merged.
Go to Animation Shop and right click on frame 1 and Paste/ After Current Frame.

Go back to PSP and turn off layer 2 and turn on layer 3. Edit/Copy Merged.
Go to Animation Shop and right click on frame 2 and Paste/ After Current Frame.

9.

Edit/Select All. Animation/Frame Properties/Display Time 20.
Click on the "View Animation" button (in the blue box below) to see your tag in action.

If you like what you see go to File/Save As and give your tag a name and save it.

If you want to change the speed, close the animated version then right click on the image again
and change the number up or down and hit the View Animation button again.

That's it, I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial!
