This tutorial was written for PSP9. I have included lots of instructions and screen shots
with the hope that anyone can do this tutorial. I have most of my favorite effects on a tool
bar but have included the path to each effect so it will be easy to find them if you are new
to PSP. If you are more advanced, you can move along at your own pace.

~ You will need ~

Paint Shop Pro 9, a 30 day trial program can be downloaded here.

The beautiful tube used for this tutorial was done by Anna Marie Gonzales ~AMG~
you can download it here. Thanks for allowing me to use and share your tube, Anna Marie!

I do not know the name of the talented artist who created this wonderful image so
I cannot give proper credit for the artwork. If you know the name of the artist I would
appreciate it if you would write me. ginny hopping at comcast dot net. Thanks!

The pattern for the text "friendstextfill_gh.jpg" here and Mask126 here .
Right click and "Save Picture As" to your
My Documents/My PSP Files/Masks.

*Free* Mehdi Filter/Weaver here.
Make a folder named Mehdi in your Plugins folder, open the zip and extract the file there.

Fiolex Girls font
Unzip and open the font. Minimize it on your desktop so you can use it in PSP.

All screen shots have been reduced in size and compressed, yours will be larger.

Let's get started.
Open a new canvas 450 x 525, Raster Background, 16 Million Colors, color White #FFFFFF.

In your Layer palette, click on the "New Raster Layer" icon and name this layer "mask".

new raster layer

Using your Flood fill tool , with your foreground AND
background color set to #deedf0, fill the mask layer.

On this layer (mask) go to Layers/Load/Save Mask/Load Mask From Disk

In the "Load Mask From Disk" window find "Mask126" in the Mask preview window.
Check "Source Luminance", "Fit to Canvas" and "Show All Masks" only.

In your Layer palette, right click on the "Group-mask" layer and go to Merge/Merge Group.
Here's what you should have now ....

Let's apply the Weaver effect to your mask now. Make sure your
background color is set to #deedf0 or the effect will not look right.
Go to Effects/Plugins/Mehdi/Weaver. Size Range 0-50 Size 30.

Activate your tube and go to Edit/Copy, then go back to the canvas we've been working on and go to Edit/ Paste/Paste as New Layer. Rename this layer "tube". Go to Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colorize Hue 146/Saturation 66.
Here's what you should have now ...

tube applied

In your Layer palette, click on your Tube layer and click on the
"Duplicate Layer" icon twice.

duplicate layer

Click on the "tube" layer (see below) and go to Effects/Distortion Effects/Punch and
change the "Strength (%)" to 50. Make sure your background color is still set to #deedf0 and go to Effects/Plugins/Mehdi/Weaver.
Size Range 0-50 Size 30.
Lower the Opacity of this layer to 60.

Click on "Copy of tube" and go to Effects/Texture Effects/Mosaic-Antique. "Number
of Columns AND Rows" 77, "Tile diffusion" 80, "Grout Width" 9, "Grout Diffusion" 51.
Reduce the Opacity of this layer to 64%.

Click on the "Copy (2) of tube" layer and go to Effects/ 3D Effects/Drop Shadow.
"Vertical and Horizontal" 0, "Opacity" 100, "Blur" 16 and "Color" #437677.

Now for the text.

Using your Text tool with these settings ...

In your Materials palette, make your foreground color #8dabb7 and change your background to pattern and locate friendstextfill_gh.jpg. (Angle 100 and Scale 60) Click on your canvas near the bottom and in the Text Entry box, type your name.

** tip **
I always use vector text because you still have the option of editing the text and the
properties after you apply it to your canvas. Go to your Layer palette and click on the little
plus sign on the text layer and the sub-layer will open. You can right-click on that sub-layer
and you will see the "Properties" (Stroke and Fill colors, line width and style) and "Edit
Text" (reopens the Text Entry box where you can change the text, font, size, etc.)
options are still available to you. Much easier than hitting the undo button if you don't like
what you see!

Position your text below the face and go to your layer palette. Right click on Vector 1 and click on Convert to Raster Layer. Go to Selections/Select All, Selections/Float, Selections/Modify/Contract 1. Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel with these settings ..
Bevel 1, Width 1, Smoothness 57, Depth 2, Ambience 0, Shininess 61,
Angle 315, Intensity 39, Elevation 36. Selections/Select None.
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow. Vertical -1, Horizontal 3, Opacity 50, Blur 5 and Color #394f60.

Add your watermark and you are done!
